FAQ

FAQ

Is natural rubber safe for dogs?

A: Yes! Natural rubber is safe for dogs. Natural Rubber is a raw material produced from latex, an organic substance harvested from the Hevea brasiliensis tree. Natural rubber is plant-based and has less chemicals than synthetic rubbers or plastics.

Is natural rubber sustainable?

A: Yes. The principle of rubber farming is simple. Trees are planted, about 500 per acre, and grow for 6 or 7 years. The latex can then be collected over a period of 20 to 30 years. A single rubber tree produces 132-330 lbs of rubber during its lifetime.

What's up with the off-white color?

A: Natural rubber is white. We decided not to use unnecessary colorants in our ball. Most rubber products are manufactured with colorants. The most common is carbon black. These colorants could be unsafe for your dog.

Can you explain the unique design of the ball?

A: The ball’s design is to aid in breathing and add grip to a ball. The patent-pending safety channels provide airflow while in the dog’s mouth. Balls can be a choking hazard. Please lookup how to perform the eXternal eXtraction Technique (XXT). It’s a safer and more effective choking intervention.

Is natural rubber biodegradable?

A: Somewhat, due to its plant-based origins, it will break down over time. Natural rubber decomposes in well-aerated moist soils over a period of at least one year. We ask that you contact your local recycling company about recycling our product before throwing it away. Natural rubber is not compostable.

I have a latex allergy, should I be concerned?

A: Natural rubber contains latex. If you have a latex allergy, we recommend you don’t handle the ball. Although, natural rubber products are manufactured differently than liquid latex products (i.e. rubber gloves), it’s recommended to avoid anything made with latex when having a latex allergy.

Where is your company based?

A: We are a small family run business located in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Is your ball made in the U.S.A.?

A: No. Our ball is molded by a California based company with manufacturing plants located closer to rubber plantations which are outside of the United States. Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) trees do not grow in North America.

Will you sell more sizes in the future?

A: Yes. The molds are super costly and we could only launch the company with the most common dog ball size of 2.5” or size medium. We plan on selling 2” and 3” sizes in the future.

Why not just buy my dog a tennis ball?

A: A tennis ball approved for dogs can be great. A tennis ball designed for tennis may contain chemicals that could harm your dog. Try to limit tennis ball play time because it can be a choking hazard and the ball’s fuzz (nap) is abrasive and will prematurely wear down your dog’s teeth. We recommend a tennis ball for water play because natural rubber doesn’t float.
